“There is a true God beyond the ‘god’ of Judaism and Christianity. This ‘god’ (who is the god of most of the world religions) in reality is the Demiurge, who insanely thinks he is the one true god. Most Gnostics teach that Yahweh (also known as Jehovah) of the Old Testament is none other than the Demiurge. The Gnostics gradually reached this conclusion by studying the writings of the Old Testament which demonstrates that Yahweh is a violent, jealous, mass murderer, a cruel and ruthless deity who indiscriminately orders the execution of innocent men, women and children or directly carries out their deaths by various means. Here are three examples: •Yahweh is a man of war. Yahweh is his name. (Exodus 15:3) •I form the light and create darkness. I make peace and create calamity. I am Yahweh, who does all these things.
